Suspended particles in slurries generally aggregate into clumps when passing through magnetic drums due to the residual magnetism they retain 

For example, if a ferromagnetic material (such as iron) is exposed to an external magnetic field, the magnetic domains of the material align with the direction of this field. Upon removal of the magnetic field, part of this alignment remains, causing the material to retain magnetic properties for an indefinite period. This phenomenon is known as “Magnetic Hysteresis.”
